Old Town is beautiful all year round.

Still, there is something special when the holiday lights are lit in the trees. It takes the town from great to magical.

With the scent of fall in the air, and winter nipping at its heels, Old Town Fort Collins is about to be set ablaze in a sea of holiday lights.

Join the Mayor of Fort Collins on Friday, Nov. 7th at Oak Street Plaza for the official lighting ceremony, where she will flip the switch on thousands of tiny LED lights throughout historic downtown Fort Collins.

“When I see the lights twinkling across the downtown, I know the holiday season has begun.  The lights create a magical wonderland and invite the community to share the holiday spirit!” said Mayor Karen Weitkunat.

The free lighting ceremony is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the lights going on around 6:30 p.m. Trees lining Walnut Avenue, Linden Street, Pine Street, Old Town Square, Oak Street Plaza and Mountain Avenue are included in the lighting.

The thousands of twinkling holiday lights not only set the holiday spirit, but have an estimated 90 percent energy savings compared to the standard lights.

The lights will remain illuminated seven days a week from dusk until dawn between Nov. 7 and the weekend of Feb. 15.
