Old Chicago in Loveland Suddenly Closes Up for Good
Another popular (or once popular) restaurant in Colorado has closed its doors; again, a closure with very little notice.
Old Chicago in Loveland, Colorado Closes
An Old Chicago location that has been in operation for about 20 years, suddenly closed its doors on March 10, 2025. The Loveland location, near the I-25/Highway 34 interchange was a great location; not great enough though, apparently.
In early 2017, the original Old Chicago, in Boulder, closed its doors after 41 years on Pearl Street.
The trend of well-known restaurants shutting down "underperforming" locations continues, as Old Chicago basically threw up their hands in defeat and shut down Loveland's only location. It was less than two weeks after On the Border closed their Loveland spot, as well.
I. like I'm sure many others, had been to that Old C's many, many times. Dates, birthdays, food/beer with friends, Christmas gatherings. With it being where it was, it was a great meeting spot for those coming from different parts of the state.

It seems so long ago, now, that there was once an Old Chicago in Downtown Fort Collins that was a ton of fun. It was there for nearly 40 years, but shutdown in 2018.
In today's world, it's just becoming harder; harder for folks to dine out, harder for restaurants to pay their staffs, harder for those former staff members to find their next place of employment.

When I drove out to the closed Loveland location on March 11, 2025, there was already a crew out there getting ready to take down the exterior signage. It's going to be weird and sad not to see that Old Chicago there, anymore.
I'll bring up that Anchor Bar at The Promenade Shops at Centerra really has an Old Chicago "vibe" about it, and is big like Old Chicago, if you're needing that kind of central location.
