It seems like every day we're writing stories about this store or that closing - if not just a few locations, the entire roster of stores across the country.

Restaurants, smaller shops and even major retailers make more news when they're closing locations, but for one favorite major retailer, they're still growing.

I'm talking about Target - who in 2026 plans to add at least 40 stores across the United States, including two addition locations in Colorado.

One of them is slated for development in Northeast Denver, in the Green Valley Ranch area. The other one is set for a location closer to home up here in Northern Colorado: Firestone.

While there are no set dates to open the Firestone location, it will be located at the southwest corner of Jake Jabs Blvd and City Centre Rd, near Home Depot.

The Green Valley Ranch location will be the anchor of a major development there with retail, shopping, dining and more than 2,000 new homes being built in the area. Should make life a little easier when you're headed to DIA and realize you forgot something!

These new stores are part of a larger plan focused on expanding the retailer across the country, with Florida, North Carolina and Texas currently scheduled to get the most new stores, while eighteen other states will be getting at least one more.

In some cases, they're actually taking over existing stores that have closed and remodeling rather than building from the ground up. Regardless, one thing is for certain, sooner rather than later, no matter where you live, a Target will be nearby.
