New NoCo Owlz Minor League Team Plans 92-Game Season in 2021
The NoCo Owlz minor league baseball team coming to Windsor is planning to play a 92-game season in 2021.
The team moving from Orem, Utah will be part of an MLB Partner League called the Pioneer League. The 2021 season is currently scheduled to run from late May to early September.
The Owlz will play against:
- Grand Junction Rockies
- Rocky Mountain Vibes (located in Colorado Springs)
- Billings Mustangs
- Great Falls Voyagers
- Idaho Falls Chukars
- Missoula PaddleHeads
- Ogden Raptors
Former Colorado Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs is part of a group of investors behind the team and the new Future Legends Sports Complex, according to Ballpark Digest.
While the Owlz were previously affiliated with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the players won't be directly tied to an individual MLB ballclub in 2021. Owlz alumni include current major league players Patrick Corbin, Mike Clevinger and Jo Adell.
Hopefully we'll be able to "root-root-root for the Owlz" while enjoying some peanuts and Cracker Jacks in-person this summer at the new Windsor ballpark.
