If you're following along with the current rise in COVID19 cases in Colorado, you're seeing that our amazing state is putting up some of its highest numbers to date, and there's not much sign of slowing down as we head into the holidays. It's not only the number of cases that's the main concern though, it's also the number of hospitalizations in Colorado that has the Colorado Department of Health and Environment issuing a new public health order.

According to Denver 7, the new public health order, which will go into effect this Friday, November 19th, will mandate that anyone attending an event with 500 or more people be vaccinated. Those counties include Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, and Jefferson counties. As of now, Weld and Larimer are not affected by this Colorado Department of Health and Environment public health order, but how long will that last?

In the Denver 7 news article, it said:

State Epidemiologist Dr. Rachel Herlihy presented data Thursday showing that 79% of people currently hospitalized in Colorado for COVID-19 are not vaccinated and that vaccinated people were nearly 9 times less likely to be hospitalized for COVID-19 than unvaccinated people.

It's tricky to try and decrease our current numbers in Colorado and keep people safe, without hurting our local economy like we did when the shutdowns first began in March of 2020. So many local businesses never bounced back after that! The Colorado Department of Health and Environment is hoping that the mandatory vaccines for larger public events will further encourage people to get their vaccines. If the mandate in those six counties doesn't start making a difference, there's a good chance more counties further North and South of Denver will be affected by this mandate as well.
