Of all the summer events in Colorado, one in Greeley takes the cake when it comes to "going outside the box." Monster Day Greeley brings the vibes of Halloween into August.

How Long Has 'Monster Day Greeley' Been Around?

Monster Day held its first event in Downtown Greeley in 2017, after being dreamed up by the founder of Distortions Unlimited a year prior. Since then, tens of thousands of people have participated in the day of dressing up to "scare" for fun and raise funds for a great cause.

As a part of the annual event with costumes, food, music, art, and entertainment, Monster Day in Greeley raises funds for Don't Be a Monster, a national non-profit that organizes programs to raises awareness about bullying prevention for students in 4th through 6th grade.

Whereas Halloween happens in late fall, when the weather can be cold and snowy, Monster Day Greeley happens in summer, when it's usually nice. The 2025 event saw much cooler temperatures than the area had been seeing for weeks, which much have been relief to those with elaborate costumes.

A wide range of "scary" themes were at the 2025 event, with more than a few folks dressed up as "Beetlejuice" characters. The ones that seemed original really stood out, in my opinion; the hours that went into designing and getting some of the costumes on must have been daunting.
