Man Facing 1st Degree Murder in Fort Collins Death
Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) have arrested the suspect in a recent homicide case.
According to a press release from the City of Fort Collins, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 21, when officers responded to a report of a deceased person in the 800 block of North College Avenue.
Upon arrival, police identified the victim as 30-year-old Fort Collins resident Adam Clouser. Based on evidence at the scene, investigators originally ruled the incident as a suspicious death.
After learning that Clouser died from multiple stab wounds, authorities changed the cause of death to a homicide.
Police later identified Brian Townsend, 35, as the primary suspect in the murder, believing that he allegedly killed Clouser following an argument on Nov. 19, before fleeing the scene.
A passerby found Clouser's body two days later.
Authorities arrested Townsend on Monday (Nov. 30) and booked him into the Larimer County Jail, where he is facing a charge of First Degree Murder (class 1 felony).
"Our detectives worked nonstop to gather evidence and locate the suspect in this case," FCPS Chief Jeff Swoboda said in the release. "While nothing can reverse the devastating impact of violent crimes like this, we remain committed to seeking justice and finding answers for the families."
