In a Thursday press release, it was announced that the Corn Roast Festival, which draws about 30,000 people to downtown Loveland, has officially been canceled.

The Corn Roast Festival, which began in 1894, is more than just a sentimental event for the residents of Larimer County. It's a celebration of the city's heritage, and has displayed the city's tenacity by bouncing back after it was overshadowed by the Larimer County Fair in 1912, according to the Reporter Herald.

This festival is the largest fundraising event for the Loveland Chamber of Commerce and costs over $100,000 to host. But in spite of their regret at doing so, the Chamber is confident in its decision.

“We’ve done a good job of flattening the curve. The last thing we’d want to do is be the source of driving those numbers back up," said Mindy McCloughan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Loveland Chamber of Commerce.
