Loveland, Colorado Fireworks canceled.

When voters decided to repeal a food tax, the city began scrambling to figure out how to deal with losing over $10 million from its budget.

Part of the cuts to the budget included canceling six events that were held annually. While not everyone went to all the events, most went to one, while the other dated back to 1930, celebrating the town's history.

It's likely that had voters had known that these events would be canceled, they may have changed their minds on canceling that tax.

Loveland, Colorado, Cancels Two Annual Events for 2025 Due to Budget Cuts

Loveland's 2025 budget for 2025 had a $10.5 million shortfall to its General Fund after voters voted to repeal the city's food tax, in November of 2024.

One of the first things the city did was eliminating the swim beach at Lake Loveland. Many Lovelanders were upset about that decision, but overall, only a small percentage of Loveland's population used that beach.

Along with closing the swim beach, the city pulled six events from the calendar, as staffing and supplies to put on those events were being cut. Four out of six would be missed by some, but two would be missed by many Lovelanders.

Lovelanders will be looking elsewhere for a great fireworks show on the 4th of July, as the city pulled it from its calendar. It's unclear how much it cost to put on the fireworks display.

Loveland Cherry Celebration Canceled for 2025

Also among the cuts that Loveland had to make to adjust for not having the $10.5 million that was cut from the budget was the annual Cherry Celebration.

The Cherry Celebrating dated back to the 1930's as a way to celebrate the town's history of having over 10,000 acres of cherry orchards, producing over $1 million in cherries every year, from the 1920s through the 1960s.
