Great Mexican Restaurant in Vail Says, ‘Adios’ After 50 Years
There are a lot of great Mexican restaurants in Colorado, but that list was reduced by one, in April of 2025. A place that had been around serving tourists and (mostly) locals called it quits, after 53 years.
Los Amigos at Vail Ski Resort in Colorado Closes
One of the best parts of hitting any ski resort in Colorado, whether you're actually skiing or just heading up with friends, is the variety of restaurant/bar options each ski resort has. After more than 50 years, hundreds of thousands of people had probably been there.
Having opened in 1972, Los Amigos had seen many changes in not only skiing, but in pop culture, throughout its 50+ years.
Vail Ski Resort, itself, does about $3 billion in business every year. With that kind of money coming to the town, many shops and restaurants have the opportunity to do well, too. Los Amigos Tequilaria & Bar had a great run, with Tequila, margaritas and Mexican food, sometimes, great things just fade away.

According Vail Daily, Los Amigos. well-known for having that deck that faced Vail Mountain, had been celebrating their very last ski season since Vail opened for the 2024-2025 season. With the the resort's last day for skiing being April 20, 2025, that was also the last day for Los Amigos.

Friends and I have taken a few trips up to Summit County for overnight adventures; playing disc golf during the day, the hitting the watering holes of whatever village at night. I think we did hit the course that's at the top of Vail, one time; I can't recall if we hit Los Amigos, but I bet we did.
What's Next for Los Amigos' Location?
According to WhatNowDenver.com, the place will go through an $8 million transformation as new owners will turn it into a high-end club - 'The Sixty Two Society,' "62" referring to 1962, when Vail opened.
