It was announced that Poudre School District has three positive COVID-19 cases among their elementary students during Tuesday's (Oct. 13) Board of Education meeting.

Elementary students tested positive for COVID at Laurel, Harris and Rice elementary schools during the district's first week of hybrid learning, according to the Coloradoan.

Younger students returned for two in-person days per week beginning on October 5. The impacted students have been placed in quarantine.

PSD Superintendent, Sandra Smyser, told the Coloradoan, "None of us have had to try and solve these problems before, so we have learned a lot from these three cases and we will continue to learn".

She went on to say that initially, the district was concerned over lack of testing and now, with COVID cases aggressively spiking, they are concerned that contact tracing will be delayed.

Board of Education Vice President, Rob Petterson, told the Coloradoan that its high schoolers, who are passing each other in the hallways, that will have the biggest complications with contact tracing.

PSD is just one of many school districts in Northern Colorado that has struggled with COVID now that kids are back in school, as reported by the Coloradoan.
