Larimer Food Bank Pantries Closing Temporarily, Changing Hours
The Food Bank for Larimer County announced on Wednesday (March 25, 2020) that they'll be closing their food share pantries for restocking.
Due to COVID-19, there are a lot of people that need to take advantage of the Food Bank for Larimer County's pantries in Loveland and Fort Collins. Because of this sudden influx, two of the food-share locations need to shut down for two days.
The food-share pantries at 2600 North Lincoln Avenue in Loveland and 1301 Blue Spruce Drive in Fort Collins will be closed March 26 and 27.
Though food supplies are strong, the food banks need this time to pre-package food, which will ease long lines at the pantries, the organizations stated on their respective websites.
When operations resume on March 27, 2020, there will be a few changes as well:
- New days/hours of operation:
- Loveland location: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
- Fort Collins location: Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
- New procedures:
- The food banks will move to 'drive-up distribution' for the safety of clients and staff. Clients will be guided on where to park their cars and bags of food will be brought out for the client to load themselves (this method is thought to provide the most safety for both clients and volunteers). Those using public transportation and going by foot to the food banks will be able to use an alternative walk-up line.
