For starters, a cow in Jefferson County recently found itself stuck in the mud, and couldn’t get out.

Fortunately, the Sheriff’s Office was there with two different winches in hand to rescue the cow.

Another interesting thing that happened was the idea of a therapy kangaroo becoming commonplace in Colorado after the Grand Junction Police Department got to meet one.

If you thought that would be the only kangaroo news going on in Colorado, well, you’re woefully wrong.

Recently, the Durango Police Department got themselves a late night call that they probably haven’t heard far too often; a loose red kangaroo has hit the streets.

Now, police sometimes have to get called on when it comes to animals invading a town, but to get a call for a kangaroo in Colorado has to be rare.

Fortunately for us, the Durango Police released the bodycam footage of the event, so we can see the kangaroo having itself a little nighttime joyride of sorts out on the streets.

With that being said, one might think the kangaroo escaped from a nearby zoo. The problem is that Durango doesn’t have any zoos.

So, how did a red kangaroo appear on the streets of Durango?

That’s right, if you weren’t already aware, owning a red kangaroo is absolutely legal to do in Colorado.

All you have to do to own a red kangaroo of your own is import the animal properly and legally.

When it comes to actually buying one, you’re going to definitely have to put down a couple thousand bucks to do so.

This particular pet got out of its owner's house because it got extremely spooked by the sound of an alarm going off.

In turn, it gave the Durango Police quite possibly their best story of the year.
