I-25 Through Denver Might Become ‘Barack Obama Highway’
Last Thursday, Rep. Dan Pabon introduced HJR18-1016, in honor of our 44th president, as this would rename I-25 from the city and county line of Denver from the northern border to the southern 'Barack Obama Highway.' Pabon says it's is a way to recognize the contributions Obama made to our country during his eight years as president, such as "successfully taking on the challenges of a nation experiencing the largest recession since the Great Depression, along with expanding environmental protections and supporting groundbreaking LGBT-rights decisions."
He points out that, if this is successful, Colorado would be the first place this has happened so far.
South of Denver, two other portions of I-25 are nicknamed after presidents: Ronald Reagan Highway in El Paso County, and John F. Kennedy Highway in Pueblo County.
The proposal will go to the House next year for a vote.
