Hotel Housekeeper Finds Weapons Before Denver All Star Game
A hotel housekeeper was simply doing her job when she saw something out of the ordinary. She discovered 16 long guns, body armor and about a 1000 rounds of ammunition inside of a room at the Maven Hotel on Wazee Street, about 2 blocks from Coors Field in Denver.
According to Denver 7, "police feared a 'Las Vegas-style shooting' during the All-Star Game in Denver after receiving the tip from the housekeeper", which is terrifying in itself, but especially since the arrest happened on Saturday, a day that my son and I were downtown in the Coors Field area.
The four suspects, who, according to police are Richard Platt, Gabriel Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Kanoelehua Serikawa (according to Denver Police and Denver7) now face a variety of charges.
While a variety of weapons were found in one rented room of the hotel, police also found that a second room was being rented and not only that, the renter originally asked to lengthen their stay and overlook an alley, KDVR said.
Denver Police gave an update on the arrests in a press conference which you can view in full right here:
A statement was released on Sunday, June 11, by The Federal Bureau of Investigations, where authorities noted that they are not aware of any threats to the All-Star Game and have no reason to believe Friday's arrests were connected to the event at this time. You can read that here:
Either way, this is a very scary reminder that there are a lot of crazy people out there...be safe and be kind.
