More than a few take place in great Colorado destination locations, so why not plan on making a three-day weekend out of one of them. Maybe Telluride, or Steamboat Springs? Come on, the year will fly right by - you should do this.

If you really wanted to become a commercial hot air balloon pilot you could probably get it done within a year; if you just want to be a private pilot (no paying customers) you could accomplish it within six months.

There's definitely something very majestic about flying in a hot air balloon, maybe it's because it was created so long ago, and we still do it (basically) the same way after nearly 250 years.

I think the one I'd really like to check out is the Labor Day Lift Off weekend in Colorado Springs; it seems huge. I could head down there for the festival, stay a couple of nights, and then hit the Manitou Incline before coming back to Northern Colorado.
