A state agency has stepped in to let hair salons and other personal-service industries know that they should not open on April 27 with the 'Safer-at-Home' order.

I was video-chatting with friends of mine on Friday night (April 24, 2020); we, of course, were talking about how things were going to be relaxing a bit with the 'Safer-at-Home' order from the Governor, which was set to go into effect on April 27.

My friend said, "I have a hair appointment on May 6, but [she] doesn't know where that stands because DORA put out some 'order' last night."

I thought, "What does the Department of Real Estate have to do with a hair salon?" So, I looked it up after our chat and found out what was going on.

Luckily, Colorado Public Radio was able to give me some clarification: it's Colorado's Department Of Regulatory Agencies that my friend was referring to, which does have a Division of Real Estate— but they're not the ones we're working with right now.

DORA sent out an email on April 23 after getting a lot of questions regarding Governor Polis' press conference about the 'Safer-at-Home' order.

In their email, they advise:

"...if you are not currently operating as a critical service business, you should not open your doors on April 27th."

DORA would rather that non-essential businesses wait until Governor Polis and his staff lay out the specific guidelines for re-opening, which is set to happen the week of April 27 and no later than May 1.

According to CPR, this includes personal services such as hair and nail salons, massage parlors, and acupuncture businesses.
