The Federal Transit Administration has given Greeley-Evans Transit a portion of the $25 billion set aside to protect the nation's transportation systems.

This is great news, as GET provides essential transportation for many in Northern Colorado.

From a press release from the Department of Transportation:

“We know that many of our nation’s public transportation systems are facing extraordinary challenges and these funds will go a long way to assisting our transit industry partners in battling COVID-19...”

“These federal funds will support operating assistance to transit agencies of all sizes providing essential travel and supporting transit workers across the country who are unable to work because of the public health emergency.”

The CARES Act is the nearly $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Response and Economic Securities Act, which was signed on March 27, 2020.

It'll be interesting to see how the City of Greeley puts the funding to work.
