Grass Fire North of Boulder Prompts Road Closure, Evacuation Warning
With many still dealing with the devastation of 2021's Marshall Fire near Boulder, any smoke in the area can be unnerving.
Boulder County Sheriff's Office began working a grass fire on Thursday, October 20, 2022, north of the city in the Allens Lake area, around 2:45 p.m. At that time, they estimated the fire to be 8-10 acres.

Smoke along Highway 36 prompted the Sheriff's Office to close Nelson Road and Neva Road, outside of Boulder. They also announced that while no structures were on fire at the time, they had issued an Evacuation Warning for the area below:

With little wind in the area at the time, they were be able to use air tanker to fight the fire

The Marshall Fire in Boulder County destroyed more than 1,000 homes.
The fire started just after 11 a.m. Dec. 30, consuming football lengths of land in seconds in suburban areas. Frontline emergency personnel said they had never seen anything like it, according to Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle.
