1 Man Died in Fort Collins Fatal Motorcycle Accident
Fort Collins Police said they are investigating an overnight motorcycle accident that left one man dead over the weekend.
Just after 1:15 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 25), Fort Collins police were called to the intersection of Centre Avenue and Rolland Moore Drive, following reports of a motorcycle that had gone off the road.
According to witnesses, the 2002 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling south and went off the right side of the road, where it then dropped into an empty ditch canal. The motorcycle collided with the far side of the canal bank and flipped into an open field.
The operator of the motorcycle was a 22-year-old man from Fort Collins. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The intersection remained closed for approximately 4 ½ hours while investigators evaluated the incident. Police believe speed may have contributed to the accident.
Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.
