Fort Collins Company Defeats Swiss Watchmaker in Trademark Lawsuit
Vortic Watch Company has become known in Fort Collins and across the nation for their incredible watch restorations, including those timeless (pardon the pun) creations from Hamilton Watch International.
At their workshop in Fort Collins, Vortic will salvage, restore, and transform vintage watches into self-proclaimed, wearable pieces of art.
Now, a federal judge has decided they get to keep doing their business.
According to an article from PR Newswire, The Swatch Group (a conglomerate who oversees Hamilton) claimed that Vortic's restorations violated the Hamilton copyright law. However, after five years of back-and-forth court battles, Vortic has come out the victor.
The case made it to the U.S. Federal Court. Judge Alison Nathan decided that Vortic is not taking advantage or violating any trademarks to salvage these antique pocket watches. You can take a look at these products for yourself on Vortic's website right here.
