Fort Collins and Larimer County to Celebrate National Night Out
National Night Out is all about strengthening neighborhood relationships, preventing local crime, and sending a message that crime won't be tolerated. Fort Collins and the Larimer Country Sheriff's Office is encouraging everyone to get involved and be part of the 29th Annual National Night Out.
This year's National Night Out will be celebrated on August 7, 2012.
Each year's National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states in addition to U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. It is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!
National Night Out can be celebrated with neighborhood block parties, cookouts, a visit from the Larimer County Sheriff's office, a flashlight walk, contests or youth programs. So what will you do in your neighborhood?
If your neighborhood is interested in participating, you can call the Larimer County Sheriff's Office at 970-682-0597.
