Former ‘Bachelor’ Contestant Lex McAllister Commits Suicide
Former contestant of the ABC show The Bachelor, Lex McAllister, is dead - believed by family and authorities to be a suicide.
McAllister appeared on season 14 with Jake Pavelka, the "sexy-pilot-turned-wannabe-actor," but was sent home after the first week. (Pavelka ended up proposing to now ex-fiancee, Vienna Girardi.)
According to TMZ, police in Columbus, Ohio, received a 911 call on Saturday at approximately 2 p.m. from a friend of McAllister saying she had said in a text earlier that day she wanted to "end her life." When the friend checked on her, McAllister appeared to have overdosed on prescription pills.
She was taken to the hospital under stable condition, but was taken off life support by family when her body began to "shut down."
McAllister passed away Tuesday morning.
A TMZ source cites McAllister's struggle with depression and bipolar disorder as possible factors.
Unfortunately, McAllister is not the first former Bachelor contestant to commit suicide. In 2013, Gia Allemand, who also appeared on season 14 with Jake Pavelka, committed suicide by hanging.
In the following video, McAllister discusses the "No Excuses" self-help program on Ohio & Company.
