Where once it seemed that there Taco John's all over Colorado, those days are coming to an end, it would seem. With the closure of another TJ's in the Fort Collins area, it opened the opportunity for a small chain out of Wyoming to breach the Colorado market.

Taco John's Locations Disappearing in Northern Colorado

Several Taco John's across Northern Colorado have shuttered over the last few years, due to financial struggles, staffing, and supply costs. It's hard to see such a favorite fade away after decades of success, coming out of Wyoming.

Many Coloradans have enjoyed their tacos and Potato Olés over the years. I remember a roommate and I grabbing the "Six Pack & a Pound" deal that they had, a lot back in the 90s.

Who's Coming to Take the Place of Wellington's Taco John's?

While both the former Windsor Taco John's, and the shuttered Loveland Taco John's location were taken over by Alvarado's, with the closure of the Taco John's in Wellington, another new name entered the conversation: Fernandito's Mexican Grill.

From what's understood, they first opened in Cheyenne, but then moved to Laramie, not to be confused with Fernando's, also in Laramie.

Reviews of Fernandito's express how good and authentic their menu is, including tacos, burritos, carne asada fries, the salsa bar and having three aqua de fresca drinks.  While many in Wellington were hoping for something other than "another Mexican restaurant," Fernandito's is bound to give the nearby Taco Bell a run for its money.
