
Elway Will Not Be Charged in Death Of Friend; Ruled an Accident
Back in April, John Elway was driving a golf cart nearby a golf resort in Southern California when his good friend, agent and business partner Jeff Sperbeck felll off the back of the cart, ultimately passing away from his injuries.
TMZ confirmed at the time that Elway was behind the wheel, after he and his friend and their wives had been at a music festival that day and were leaving an after party at the time the accident occurred.

The investigation into the incident has finally concluded that the incident was an accidental death and Elway will not face any criminal charges as a result. Elway himself was the one who called 911 immediately after the accident.
Sperbeck's official cause of death is listed as "blunt head trauma" as he fell from the back of a moving golf cart, hit his head on asphalt and rolled into the street. He was initially on life support at the hospital but died a few days later in the hospital.

Sperbeck was an agent for more than 100 NFL players over three decades in the business, and as a close personal friend of Elway's, also was his business partner in a handful of ventures, most notably as a partner in 7Cellars winery, which the two launched in 2013.
At the time of the accident, Elway said in a statement he was, "absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck."
