Elitch Gardens Will Reopen at 18% Capacity This Spring
Funnel cake aficionados and rollercoaster enthusiasts alike will soon be able to enjoy Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park again.
According to 9News, officials have given the park permission to reopen for the 2021 season under updated health and safety guidelines — including a new 18% capacity limit, or 3,200 guests.
Season-pass holders will be able to visit the attraction on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25. It will open to the general public on Saturday, May 1.

In order to manage the capacity limit, the park will implement a reservation system for all guests, regardless of pass status. The following safety precautions will also be in place:
- Guests and employees must wear face coverings while in the park, save for guests on water attractions or those aged 2 and under.
- Guests must undergo a verbal screening upon arrival. Employees must also be screened and will receive daily temperature checks.
- Staff will regularly sanitize rides, counters and other high-contact surfaces.
- Guests must use hand sanitizer before boarding a ride. Free hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the park.
- Markers will be placed throughout the park to encourage social distancing.
- Employees will be properly trained on COVID-19 safety guidelines.
"At Elitch Gardens, the health and safety of our team members and guests are always our top priority," said David Dorman, the park's general manager, in a statement. "After being closed all last season, our entire team is extremely excited to re-open Elitch Gardens and continue our 130-year tradition of providing fond memories and family fun to our community."
The park is also hiring for 1,500 seasonal positions. The reservation system is not yet available, but will be in place soon.
On the bright side, maybe this new system will mean shorter lines for the Mind Eraser.
