A protest against the killing of George Floyd began in Denver on Thursday (May 28) evening.

According to footage posted on Twitter, protesters moved onto I-25, shutting it down in both directions near Speer Boulevard.

In photos posted by 9News, police in protective gear are seen blocking crowds near 20th and Chestnut.

However, one of the most unsettling videos from the protest shows a driver hitting one of the protesters with their car.

In the footage, a protester is seen climbing on top of a black vehicle. The driver then hits the protester before driving off, as fellow protesters begin to chase after the car.

Denver Mayor Hancock responded to the protests on social media, asking citizens to "please march in peace," stating that violence only leads to more violence.
