Did You Get This Text? The Latest COVID-19 Scam To Watch Out For
The latest pandemic text scam is hitting the stay-at-home crowd, and it's aimed at scaring the bejesus out of us.
Why do scammers take advantage of our most vulnerable moments? It's a mystery. In the midst of COVID-19, many of us are stir crazy, filled with tension, and afraid for our health. This text doesn't help.
According to WBAL TV, the scam in question involves the recipient getting a text:
The text claims that you have come in contact with someone who has tested positive or is showing symptoms of the coronavirus. It says you must self-isolate and it directs you to click on a link for more information.
Like always, police are telling residents to please not click that link. It will open up a gateway for scammers to access personal information on your phone and right now, that's the last thing we all need.
