As night fell, protests in Denver became violent and caused damage to local businesses, including a downtown Target.

Following the Friday riots in Minneapolis, Target announced that their downtown Denver location at 16th St. Mall would temporarily close, along with a few other locations across the U.S., according to Fox 31 News.

Target is compensating impacted employees with up to 14 days of their scheduled hourly pay.

K2 Radio reported that a Sam's Club in Cheyenne closed on Sunday as well, stating in a press release, "as we continue monitoring the situations unfolding in cities across the country, we will keep our focus on prioritizing the safety of our associates and customers".
