Another Reason Why Retiring in Colorado Isn’t a Terrific Idea
You work hard to build a life in Colorado; you enjoy al the activities the state has to offer, and you enjoy having four seasons. Yet, it just seems harder and harder to finish out your days in the Centennial State.
When you retire, you want to relax and enjoy the little things; but not only do things cost more in Colorado as you grow older, systems that take care of older people in Colorado are in need of an overhaul.
If anything, this data shows that you should work on a plan, should your health begin fading.
We all have an image in our minds about retirement; everyone's is different, but they all center around being happy and healthy. Whether your retirement will include travel, or new hobbies, you want it to have as little stress as possible.

You may want to think about another state for retirement, as you wan to live as long as possible, and as comfortable as possible. Your family members may be wanting you to move from Colorado as well, as they may be involved in what happens to you.
Colorado Nursing Homes Rank Among Top 5 For Complaints
A law firm dug into 2023 data surrounding nursing homes in regards to complaints filed against them, as well as each state's oversight of the industry. While Colorado wasn't worst, it definitely didn't score well.
The firm found the average complaints per nursing home in each state with Florida, which is known to be a state to retire at, doing very well; Wyoming did as well. They were the top two states for least complaints.
Colorado Nursing Home Data From 2023:
- Number of Nursing Homes: 219.
- Resident Capacity of Nursing Homes: 20,128.
- Total Complaints of Colorado Nursing Homes: 3,506.
- Colorado's Rank: 5th worst.
Of course, this data is not only about elderly persons, but also about people with health conditions that require long term care.
When it came to Colorado's oversight of nursing homes, the numbers were better, but not by much. Colorado ranked 12th in the nation on the "poorest oversight" list.
