One reason that many Coloradans say that why they love living in Colorado is that we get to see all four seasons, here. Spring leads to summer and summer to fall; what towns/cities will see the earliest fall frost?

Many look forward to breaking out those sweaters and blankets; stopping to get a pumpkin-spice latte; road trips to the the fall colors in Colorado. It's a great state to live in when you like the air crisp, though your plants may not.

Farmer's Almanac has predicted the dates for the first frosts of fall for 100 cities/town across the state. Which ones will see the earliest and who will wait the longest?

The Old Farmer's Almanac has put out its predictions for when the first frosts will be across Colorado and the country. They gather the information from the  NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information.

A "frost date" is the first light freeze in fall when temperatures will drop to 29°- 32°F (-1.7° to 0°C.) Knowing the predicted dates of that first frost can help you plan when to cover or your tomatoes or other delicate plants or bring them inside.

According to Almanac.com, while many crops get damaged or die after that first frost, there are a few that do great, such as carrots, broccoli, and root crops. Experienced gardeners have great "crops" right up to the ground freezes.

When What Will Be the Average Date of the First Frost in Colorado for 2024?

Looking at Almanac.com's list of 100 cities/towns in Colorado and when they predict their first frost will be, folks should be definitely checking the weather forecast the last weekend of September, going into October.

The majority of first frosts fall between September 27 and October 5, 2024.

Where in Colorado Will They See the Latest First Frosts of Fall?

According to Old Farmer's Almanac and their predictions, the Western Slope of Colorado will see the latest first frost. Cities such as Grand Junction, Clifton, Orchard Mesa are predicted to see that first frost come as late as October 14-18, 2024.

Where in Colorado Will They See the Earliest First Frosts of Fall?

As you'd expect, the higher elevations will need to prepare much sooner for 2024's first frost. Almanac.com says that  Avon, Edwards, Monte Vista, Steamboat Springs and Vail will see the first frost around September 3-7, 2024; basically, right after Labor Day Weekend.
