Colorado Grocery Stores Issue “Hero Bonus” to Frontline Workers
Kroger, the parent company of King Soopers, announced that they'll be giving a $150 bonus to part-time workers and a $300 bonus to full-time workers that were hired on or before March 1, according to a press release.
This "hero bonus" is for frontline associates who have been working through the growing coronavirus crisis and covers the payroll period of March 8-28, to be paid on April 3.
Many other grocery chains, such as Safeway, Walmart and Target, are offering a $2 per hour raise for all frontline staff during COVID-19, according to Grocery Dive.
Grocery store staff encounter so many stressed-out people in such a short amount of time, all while working three times harder than normal and risking greater exposure to the virus.
To those diligent men and women helping to keep us all going during the pandemic: Thank you, you definitely deserve a raise.
