Colorado Anti-ICE Protesters Target Home of Facility Warden
The Denver Communists and Abolish ICE Denver have organized a protest at the home of Johnny Choate, the warden of the Aurora ICE detention center September 19th.
Protester Matt Wozniak is frustrated with the non-response from the government complaining that they "don't care" if protesters scream until their blue in the face. He said that Denver Communists and Abolish ICE Denver have decided to go on the offensive, attacking the homes of government employees.
The company that runs the ICE center in Aurora is publicly speaking out against the protest.
Pablo Paez - GEO Vice President:
The safety of our employees and those entrusted to our care is our highest priority. We are deeply troubled by the dangerous rhetoric and intimidation perpetrated by these extremist groups, who have now targeted one of our employees and his family at their home, recklessly releasing their personal information. These are the same radical organizations that stormed our facility, which has been operating in Aurora for 30 years.
The group planning the protest made headlines earlier this year when the stormed the same ICE facility, tearing down the American flag.
Violence has broke out with ICE protesters across the country already this year. One protester that stormed a facility in Tacoma, Washington was shot and killed.
When asked about the violence across the country, Wozniak said that the group is a peaceful group planning to exercise their first amendment rights in the neighborhood of the ICE warden.
