One Coloradan has died from West Nile Virus, and an additional 15 have been diagnosed so far this season.

Denver7 says officials will not release the name, gender, age, or county of the victim who died because they likely contracted the virus in another county.

Several Northern Coloradans have been diagnosed, including a 74-year-old Lafayette woman, 47-year-old man in north Boulder, a 13-year-old Longmont boy, a 32-year-old Greeley resident, and a horse and raptor in Weld County.

Three of the 16 total victims of West Nile Virus in Colorado were blood donors who didn’t show any symptoms, which is something pretty common for those infected with the virus.

“About 1 in 5 people who are infected will develop a fever with other symptoms such as headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash,” Mark E. Wallace, MD MPH, Executive Director for the Health Department, told Denver7.

In 2015, Colorado had 108 reported cases of West Nile, including 3 casualties.
