New details are emerging about the whereabouts of Barry Morphew on the night his wife, 49-year-old Chaffee County woman Suzanne Morphew, disappeared.

Suzanne went missing on Mother's Day after she went for a bike ride near her Salida home and never returned.

Barry, a volunteer firefighter and landscaper, was on a work trip in Denver at the time of her disappearance.

However, Barry's co-worker Jeff Puckett is now claiming to DailyMail.com that he took over Barry's hotel room at the Holiday Inn on May 10 because Barry had to leave for a family emergency.

Puckett told the publication that the hotel room smelled heavily of chlorine, and that he found mail from an insurance company in the room, which he gave to the FBI.

He also noted that even though Barry had asked him to come to Denver to cover for him on the work trip, he was unable to ever find the job site.

"It's kind of weird. My first thought was that this must be like an alibi," he said to DailyMail.com. "I hope they find her alive but it's been a long time."

The publication later learned that the Holiday Inn does not use chlorine to sanitize their rooms, and that Barry has obtained guardianship of Suzanne in order to sell a property in their Indiana hometown.

Suzanne's family has long expressed skepticism about Barry's involvement in her disappearance.

In an August interview with FOX21, an unidentified family member told the station that they feared Barry was manipulating the investigation.

Andrew Moorman, Suzanne's brother who is organizing a massive search for her later this month in Colorado, also told Fox News that Barry needs to "step up to the plate" and revisit with authorities if he is not guilty.

However, in another interview with FOX21, Barry said that he is devastated by Suzanne's disappearance, stating that he would continue to search for her until she is found.

Barry and a family friend are offering up a $200,000 reward for any information that leads to her safe return.
