Arrest Affidavit for Barry Morphew to Remain Sealed Until September

District Court Judge Patrick Murphy ruled Friday (June 4) that the arrest affidavit for Barry Morphew, the Colorado man accused of murdering his wife, Suzanne Morphew, will remain sealed until September.

Suzanne went missing on May 10, 2020, after reportedly going for a bike ride and never coming home. Barry is now facing seven charges in connection with her disappearance, including first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, and tampering with physical evidence.

According to FOX21, Murphy filed the order, which will expire on August 31, to "protect the victims and witnesses in the case."

The order named the Morphew's daughters, Mallory and Macy, as some of the victims, stating: "These young women are in an unimaginable situation and should be given time to process what has occurred and the time to review, or decide not to review, the evidence alleged against their father [redacted]."

Authorities also want additional time to review the lengthy affidavit, which is 130 pages. FOX21's Lauren Scharf noted that only authorized Judicial Department staff can view the affidavit until it is unsealed.

Authorities are currently holding Barry without bail in the Chaffee County Detention Center. Since Suzanne's disappearance, he has repeatedly denied the allegations against him. Authorities do not believe she is alive, although they have not yet recovered her body.

He is set to appear in court again on August 9.
