CNN Reports 8th JBS Employee Has Died of COVID-19
Tin Aye is the eight employee of the JBS beef processing plant in Greeley to die of COVID-19, as reported by CNN.
Aye was put on a ventilator on March 29, one day after her first grandson Felix was born.
The Union Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 7 confirmed that 316 JBS plant workers have contracted COVID-19, as of Monday, May 18.
On April 13, JBS was shut down to implement new safety initiatives and reopened on April 24. However, COVID-19 screenings and other safety measures are not taking place as promised, according to MSNBC and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
In 2007, Aye and her husband fled their refugee camp in Thailand to raise their children in Colorado.
Aye's daughter, San Twin, told CNN on May 6, "It was very hard work, but she didn't want to change jobs."
"I want people to know she was a very humble, sweet, and giving person, if she saw a homeless person on the street and hungry, she would give them her food and she wouldn't eat. She loved taking care of people, but especially her family."
