Cheyenne One of Twelve Cities Selected in the Country to Host a 2015 Navy Week
The Navy Office of Community Outreach announced today that the city of Cheyenne has been selected as one of twelve cities in the United States to host a Navy Week in 2015. The event will be held from July 13th - July 19th and will coincide with Cheyenne Frontier Days.
There will be many events planned for the week long celebration in the city during Navy Week, including these festivities:
- “Leap Frogs,” The Navy Parachute Team
- Navy Divers and or Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal teams
- Sailors from USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world
- Navy Band musical performances
- Admirals and other senior Navy leaders, who will engage with local corporate, civic, government and education leaders
- Navy simulator(s) and other interactive displays
- Visits to area schools
- Community service projects and events with local sports franchises
- Visits with local veterans
The Navy Week program was enacted in 2005, and since it's inception it has been held in 69 cities.
Other cities selected to host a 2015 Navy Week include: Quad Cities, Iowa; Rhode Island; Rockford, Ill.; Shreveport, La.; Fargo, N.D.; Indianapolis; Kansas City, Mo.; Detroit; Salt Lake City; Oklahoma City; and Atlanta.
