Governor Jared Polis has just extended Colorado's mask mandate for another month, which means making sure we're wearing ones that properly cover our face. However, today the Center of Disease Control came out with a new report that there are masks that don't protect your face as well as others do, and are encouraging you not to wear them.

Among those masks that are less effective than others, the CDC has recently updated their website to include "Masks with Exhalation Valves or Vents", like the one pictured below. Since COVID-19 is spread through droplets from the mouth and nose, masks such as this do nothing to help stop the spread of the virus.

The CDC says:

Masks with one-way valves or vents allow exhaled air to be expelled out through holes in the material. (CDC)

That probably means this one's a no-go as well:
