Greeley Police at Hostage Situation South of the Greeley Mall on Friday Afternoon

Greeley police officers are on a hostage situation this afternoon near 30th Street and 17th Avenue, near the Greeley Mall.

Greeley police Sgt. Susan West said the man has holed up in a basement apartment after he noticed officers coming to the apartment to arrest him on an outstanding warrant.

“He saw officers outside, began calling dispatch, and threatened a woman in the house with him,” West said. “He was threatening to kill her if officers came in.”

The southeast entrance to the Greeley Mall is closed.
