When it comes to snowshoeing, nordic, touring, and cross country skiing, the great trails around Cameron Pass are just about an hour away. On the drive up, you may question whether there will be enough snow. Never fear, once above 9,000 feet of elevation, during the winter, and ever the spring, there will be plenty of snow.

The Rawah Wilderness area has great snow, incredible solitude, and there is a pretty good chance you'll even see a moose if you are lucky.

You'll run out of energy before you run out of trail or wilderness. Also, safety planning is essential, as this is avalanche territory. The closest thing to civilization are the few stores that dot Highway 14 or Walden, and that's 22 miles past Cameron Pass.

Blue Lake Trail is one of our favorites. It is moderate to difficult and these pictures are of that trail.
