Skiing in Colorado can be one of the most fun adventures you can have. It can also put you in the hospital if you're not careful. That's why this Colorado ski area is not for those looking to "kill a weekend."
The thing is, the way skiing in Colorado can be so expensive, this particular mountain's prices don't seem so extreme in most instances; it is definitely extreme skiing in Colorado, however.
This Colorado ski area offers just one ski lift and they have a limit on how many lift tickets they sell each day. They want their mountain to feel like "old school skiing" with few people and lots of mountains to ski or board down.

This ski area in Colorado is known for using helicopters to get you to the top of the mountain and drop you to start your run. Prices for that start at only $184, but if you want a whole day of it, with your own chopper, that starts at $12,999.
COLORADO SKI AREA IS ONE THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED
Clearly, this ski area is not for "packing up the family for a day of fun;" it's for well-experienced skiers and snowboarders. You may have heard of "black diamond" runs at other Colorado ski resorts; at this ski area, black diamonds are at the low end of difficulty.
ONE OF COLORADO'S MOST DANGEROUS SKI AREAS IS SILVERTON MOUNTAIN
Silverton Mountain is not Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, or even Steamboat. There's no great lodge at the bottom of the mountain to relax at; you are there to "extreme ski" and that's about it.
