The Avalanche and the Sharks fought to break their own 2-2 series tie. In the previous game the Avalanche shut out the Sharks in San Jose with a 3-0 win. In that game Philipp Grubauer had 32 saves. In Saturday night's loss he had 37 saves with 28 of them coming in the first two periods.
From ESPN:
The loudest moment in Game 5 for San Jose Sharks fans in their team's win against the Colorado Avalanche involved a player that wasn't even on the ice. In the third period, captain Joe Pavelski walked out and waved a rally towel, his first public appearance since suffering a horrific head injury in Game 7 of their series against the Vegas Golden Knights.
