Are munchies real? Well, according to a University of Connecticut economist, there is a 'link between state recreational marijuana legalization and increased consumption of certain high-calorie foods, suggesting there may be something more substantial to the urban myth of 'the munchies.''

What the study found is that in Colorado, Washington and Oregon, there is a three percent sales increase for ice cream, a five percent increase in chips, and the sweets have us up four percent since legalization. And, this data was consistent for all three states in the study.

So, yeah, munchies might be real. You can read more about the UConn study here.
