Rita Wilson and actor Tom Hanks are celebrating 31 years of marriage this year. And in a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, the actress-turned-singer reveals just how these two have kept things romantic all of these years.

Believe it or not, she says it’s all about sharing a bathroom.

“At night, when you are getting ready to go to bed and you are taking off your makeup, or you're brushing your teeth—those are the times great conversations happen, and good laughs happen,” says Wilson, who stopped by the nightly radio show to tout her fourth studio album Halfway to Home and her buzzworthy song “Throw Me a Party.”

“You can really connect at the end of the day,” she notes.

The singer, who is set to perform at the CMA Music Festival this June, also says it’s important to try to alleviate any anger you have towards your spouse before the end of the day.

“There’s always that thing you’ve heard about never going to bed angry, and I think there is something to that,” says Wilson, who made her Grand Ole Opry debut back in October. “Try to resolve whatever it is before you go to bed.”

Lastly, as both Wilson and Hanks have helped us do so many times via their work, it’s important to keep laughing.

“Keep yourselves laughing, even in a fight,” says Wilson, who will also perform at Stagecoach later this month. “Try to find some humor in something, so you can keep it loose.”
