2019 Highlands Ranch STEM Shooter Found Guilty of Murder
It was just reported that Devon Michael Erickson was charged on 48 counts, including murder in the first degree. The jury found Erickson guilty on those charges and others.
On May 7, 2019, at STEM School Highlands Ranch, Erickson and Maya Elizabeth McKinney opened fire within the school from separate locations. Student Kendrick Ray Castillo, later named a hero in the incident, was shot and killed by Erickson when Castillo attempted to stop him.
Eight other students at STEM were injured in the mass shooting.
According to Denver7, Erickson will now face life in prison without parole. McKinney had already pleaded guilty to murder and other charges, and is facing life in prison with the opportunity for parole, but only because McKinney was a minor when the shootings took place.
