Zero COVID-19 Restrictions for Weld County Beginning April 16

The state will be eliminating its COVID dial on April 16, 2021, leaving any restriction policies up to the counties. Weld, long opponents of restrictions, will go without.

It probably goes without saying that it does not come as a huge surprise that FOX31 Denver reports that the Weld County Board of Commissioners will allow the citizens of the county to determine what precautions they should undertake concerning the easing pandemic.

From a statement from the five-person board:

..Weld County government will not issue COVID-19 restrictions and regulations that hinder an individual’s ability to manage the day-to-day decisions for themselves and their family, or a business’s right to run their establishment in a manner that works best for them and the consumers they serve..

As of this writing, our NoCo Virus Tracker shows that Larimer County has had more new cases of COVD-19 than Weld County (+106 vs +96); Larimer will also be determining how they want to handle restrictions.

As more people get vaccinated, the less any restrictions need to be in place; to keep those restrictions from popping back up, people should still remain diligent in washing their hands, keeping a six-foot distance and wearing a mask if they feel that they should.
