There are remote yurts and huts all over Colorado, and the world for that matter. Most of them that are in use have the basics needed to survive; shelter, heat, light, beds, some pots and pans, etc, and you just have to bring your sleeping bag, food, water, headlamp and other camping stuff. It puts you in the midst of some of the most beautiful places in Colorado.
About the Yurts
The three North Park Yurts are just off the highway and you can drive to all of them. The nine Never Summer Yurts and Huts are more off the beaten path. Some require a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Others can be biked or hiked to. Complete lists of what they have vs. what you'll need can be found on their website. While the beds are padded and there is firewood and propane, these are primitive conditions, so it's best to pack what you'll need to stay comfortable.

Once there, you can partake in any wilderness activity you like:
- Fishing
- Boating - North Michigan Reservoir and other lakes are right in the area
- Mountain Biking
- Hiking
- Wildlife viewing - Seeing moose is very likely. Be careful in during the rut season (autumn)
- Relaxing - It will be hard to find a more serene and peaceful environment
Prices
When traveling in a group, the yurts are VERY affordable. The summer rates are at about $60-75 per night and the winter rates hang around $100-110. Go on a weeknight to save some money.
