Windsor Severance Fire Rescue Fighting a Large Haystack Fire

Windsor Severance firefighters say they are battling a large haystack fire northwest of the Windsor Reservoir.

In a post on Instagram at 7:10 Thursday morning the department says they got a call of a haystack fire at 3:45 AM. The area in question is the intersection of Highway 257 and Weld County Road 78. They go on to say that haystack fires require "tearing apart the piles" which takes a long time, so they will be on site for most of the day.

Smoke from the fire is currently drifting over the Poudre Valley.

WSFR crews have been on scene of a large haystack fire that was reported at 3:45 a.m. At the intersection of Hwy 257 and WCR 78. Haystack fires such as this require tearing the piles apart which is a long process. We expect to be on scene for much of the day. Smoke from the fire is drifting over the Poudre Valley.
