
Windsor on Track, Again, to Get Walmart Supercenter – Will It Actually Happen?
While the small town of Windsor continues to grow, the many businesses look to the Northern Colorado town as a place to start a business, Other businesses see it as a place to expand their operations.
Where once upon a time, the thought of having two grocery stores seemed unnecessary; by 2001 the town had both a King Soopers and a Safeway. In 2026, another King Sooper will begin being constructed on the east side of town. By 2028 some might say, "I can't believe we had a Walmart before we had a Walmart."

According to the The Greeley Tribune and BizWest, plans were submitted in July of 2025 to reignite the Walmart Supercenter project, over 190,000 square-feet sitting on nearly 34 acres. The site, which has been where they've wanted to place it since 2010, is on the west side of town off of Main and 17th, north and east of High Hops Brewery/Windsor Gardner.
Big Companies Mean Deeper Pockets for Development
While a lot of folks around Windsor do not like the idea of Walmart coming to town, it will be be good to see the area, get developed. There is a large [pond] just to the south of where the Walmart is planned; with luck, they'll find a away to develop the area around that, as well.
When Will Windsor Be Town with Two Walmart Supercenters?
Many of the larger cities around Windsor and Northern Colorado have at least one Walmart Supercenter; if all the plans for the first one for Windsor go through and it opens in 2028, how many years will go by before a second Walmart for Windsor opens; probably on the east side of town?
